A brief history of Europcar: What You Need To Know:

Europcar is one of the most recognisable worldwide brands in car hire; they are used and relied upon by thousands upon thousands of customers each and every year, and they are typically one of the most popular choices for anyone seeking out a car hire anywhere in the world.

Europcar was founded in Paris, back in 1949 – since then it has developed a global brand, with presences across most continents and regions, including the Middle East, Europe (obviously), The Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. It has grown over this period of time to be one of the most recognisable car hire brands worldwide. Europcar is now also owned by one of the major European investment firms, Eurazeo, and has recently (the sale was completed in June, 2006).

One of the main advantages to using Europcar is simply the breadth of availability of service, they have established partnerships with breakdown or roadside assistance companies, railway stations, airports and many other establishments, to offer a truly mobile service which is open to consumers across the world as and when they need it.

More recently, Europcar has also engaged in a number of expansion plans, most notably the purchase of Vanguard EMEA for 670 Million Euros. Vanguard EMEA was the operator of National Car Rental and Alamo Car rental, two very prominent car hire companies servicing predominantly the European continent. This latest acquisition only served to solidify Europcar’s reputation as a leading car hire company.

In terms of their online presence, Europcar also has a reputation for going above and beyond for their customers. Each car hire is accompanied with a full tank of fuel, and various additional extras are also available with every car hire – they also have a strong reputation in various award ceremonies and also on car rental comparison websites.
