Questions To Ask When Writing A Press Release
Wednesday, March 7th, 2012If you’re ready to write a press release but aren’t sure where to start, there are some questions to ask yourself (or your client) that should help with the process and ensure your press release is strong and impactful.
1. What is it you’re promoting? It seems obvious, but the who, what, where, why, and when are key in a news release and sometimes get overlooked.
2. Who is it for? In any industry there’s always an ideal customer. Your press release should target this type of person and show them the benefits to using your service or attending your event or function.
3. What is the benefit? Why is your product unique, or why is your event exciting and worth attending? What sorts of festivities will your event have?
4. Who should people contact? The press release should end with a clear call to action, and it should include the person in charge that can answer media questions about the product or event as well as a website you’d like readers to visit.
