Tap Tap Revenge quickly approaching the one million user mark

Monday, August 18th, 2008

This bit of news shows exactly what a high quality can do to iPhone Game Downloads for developers.

The incredibly addicting and free game Tap Tap Revenge from Tapulous is quickly approaching the one million download mark. Quite an impressive number, but honestly its one that comes as little surprise considering it seems as if the game has remained in the Top 10 Free Apps section within the App Store, and it is currently sitting in the number 10 position.

Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem stated that there is currently “about 5-6 million iPhones and iPod Touches running the 2.0 firmware” which means that Tap Tap Revenge is on about 1 out of every 5-6 devices. An impressive feat, but more important Tap Tap Revenge has also been attracting the attention of a few record labels who are looking towards the game as a way of exposing new music to listeners ears.

Currently users are able to download new songs for free from the game, and roughly 2.5 million songs have been downloaded so far.

Decrem and company have had to become creative in dealing with new music additions, because Apple currently does not allow for developers to sell new content from within their app. They are currently considering offering a premium package of songs, which would most likely lead to a second, and paid version of Tap Tap Revenge making an appearance in the App Store.

While it would be nice to have some more mainstream music in the game, personally I would keep the free version and use it as not only a fun and addicting game, but a way to discover new music.

Tapulous also has a second app available in the App Store, the Twitter client called Twinkle, a very nice app, but sadly it has not seen the same level of success and is still sitting at around 80,000 downloads.

Are Servers Safe in Florida?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

While I work within the web design and web development community, I rarely get involved with hosting of the sites that my company builds.  Now I could have gone and asked our development department, but I talk to them all of the time.  My company is located in Florida, and like many other Tampa Bay Web Design and Development companies, we host our sites in the Western United States.  I belive that we do this because of the constant threat of hurricanes and tornados during the summer and fall months.  Is this warranted?  It makes since but I would imagine a hosting company with servers in Florida would have back up servers in safer locations.

Avoid server crashes with clustering

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

You can avoid server crashes with application server clustering for your business web site. Often, a company web site’s success is its inevitable doom. Your marketing department launches a great publicity blitz that brings a host of potential customers to your site. Eventually, the users will experience a painfully slow response time before the server crashes. Your IT department may add more RAM or faster processors, but the crashes keep reoccurring. If you have application server clustering, you will not have this problem. Multiple servers run simultaneously to avoid crashes by transferring to another server once one server fails. This allows you to experience the full benefit of the marketing blitz.

HDMI Price Gauging is everywhere

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

HDMI price gauging seems to have hit every major retail, and many online stores. With prices seen soaring over $200. Now for the shocker.. The estimated manufactures material cost is said to be in the pennies per cable! In some cases thats over a 2000% profit. Some how the manufactures have still gotten away with this. Reason being is, hey everyone is doing it, plus noone knows how low cost it is for the manufacture. Sure there are some saviors out there embedded in the shadows of webspace. Its no easy task locating those HDMI Deals though. We have reported prior on some findings. One location for HDMI cables would be Amazon.com . They continue to raise the competitive price rates for us consumers. We have also discovered a site you can check out here: www.inspiretech.com . A site that manufactures there own cabling with aestheticly pleasing materials and top of the line specifications, and for an amazing low price of $4.99.

Sibling Rivalry

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

For as long as I can remember, my older brother and I have competed.

And nothing was sacred. We competed in everything, from who could do the dishes faster to who was the best dresser. But mostly we completed about making money.

He’s a fan of the Internet and sees it as a goldmine. He reads James Schramko articles religiously, absorbs every article he can, and works on his websites.

Me? I’ve always worked two jobs across town from one another, gone to school and slept when I could.

Last week we compared bank balances…..I think I’m going to get the web address for this James person.

Got Movies?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

In case you haven’t noticed, that little color screen on your ipod is for more than just enjoing the cover art of your favorite albums. Its more important purpose is for you to be able to watch movies on your iPhone. Granted I would rather watch Free Ipod Movies than pay for them, but the more important thing is to get some use out of the device. If you have an iPod and have not ever watched a movie on it, you probably don’t know exactly what to expect. Sure the screen is small, but is it to small? Load a movie up and see for yourself.

Making Repairing your Registry Easy

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Simple computer and software fixes don’t have to be tough. In fact they can be quite simple if you put the time into it. I only realized this after reading a Registry easy review and discovering just how simple it can be to improve the performance of your computer with some simple tweaks to the Windows registry.

It turns out that most of your computer is controlled from this file structure that is the windows registry. If your registry gets to large, or bogged down with old data it can cause things to run very slow, and worse crash if it cannot find the proper data. The review I read explained up a program like Registry easy could be used to locate these errors and old information, remove it and get the current information back in order.

The HTML Editor is Easy and Quick

Friday, August 1st, 2008

When you decide to start a website and do it yourself then you need to plan it well, and get ready to do your own designing with an Html editor.  This is a software program that is used to create HTML documents otherwise known as web sites.

Some webmasters, and Internet marketers like to write their own HTML code, but many prefer to use an HTML editor because it is easier and quicker. Still once you have started using an HTML program you will probably want to learn some basic HTML because most programs don’t support every feature, and there will be some things that you want to add to your site. If you know the basic code then all you have to add is that little part.  HTML programmers like to use HTML software too because it makes the process so much simpler than having to write out all the code themselves.

Inkjet Cartridges and Inkjet Printer Supplies

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Inkjet printers are supposed to be the best printers that you can get, especially the laser inkjet printers, as you are supposed to get the best quality print outs that you can get with an at home printer. But, but when you make the initial purchase of the actual printer, you want to make sure that you are prepared to make the repeat purchases of inkjet cartridges, toners, and other printer supplies. This can get pretty expensive. The price of regular ink cartridges are pretty high, not to mention the cost of buying cartridges. toners, and other supplies for some of the top of the line printers.
