What is VoIP and What Does it Mean?
VoIP is an acronym that stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. This might sound like a mouthful so it could also be described as simply a phone over the internet. Skype is perhaps the best known VoIP and when you chat to your friends and family over the system you are simply using a VoIP system. Anyone can use the system providing that they have a reliable internet connection and it works by transmitting analalogue signals into digital signals that can be sent via the internet. Some people choose to use VoIP instead of their standard phone system as VoIP tends to be much cheaper.
