Alkaline Diet

The Alkaline diet is a diet based on a theory that certain foods leave an alkaline or ash residue when consumed. This is why the alkaline diet is also known as the acid ash diet, or the alkaline ash diet. The ash is made up of calcium, iron, magnesium, copper and zinc. So, food is classified as alkaline, acid or neutral according to the pH of the food with its ash in water. The alkaline diet, proponents suggest, when adhered to can help prevent cancer, obesity, fatigue, allergies, and bone health. The alkaline diet involves eating fresh citrus and other low-sugar fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes.
