Ibuprofen can cause high blood pressure
Ibuprofen, an extremely common over the counter pain medication can raise blood pressure. The effect is even more pronounced in women. This is really unfortunate because ibuprofen is a very effective anti-inflammatory. Millions of people with arthritis and other joint pain commonly take it. One source claims that women taking ibuprofen or other NSAIDs just one to four days a month were 14% more likely to have high blood pressure. This is disturbing because many people take these pain killers on a daily basis!
Another related problem is that ibuprofen can reduce the blood pressure lowering effects of other medications. So it means that you take one drug for high blood pressure and another one that cancels it out! This is just another indication of how misguided our over-medicated approach to health is.
