What Does Partial Nail Avulsion Involve?

Ingrowing toe nails are a very common medical condition that can be fully treated using a nail surgery technique called Partial Nail Avulsion.  Usually only the troublesome sides of the nail are removed, as is the part of the nail bed that is responsible for the growth of that part of the nail, hence the term partial nail avulsion.  This means that the offending sides do not grow again, leaving a slightly thinner nail.  Full nail avulsion involves nail surgery to remove the complete nail.  The chiropodist will usually pay particular attention to the aesthetics, and often it is not noticeable that surgery has been performed.
