1916 US rubber company makes comeback with Keds pumps
I have recently discovered some shoes called Keds. Keds were introduced in 1916 by the US Rubber Company as the first lifestyle and national athletic footwear brand. The shoes, at this time, were known as sneakers, a term invented in 1916 by Keds marketing company because the shoes rubber soles made the shoes quiet. The shoes were worn by Olympic soccer players, the national and international tennis champions and many college athletes. Keds were coined as the shoe of champions because of its reputation as America’s premier athletic brand. Not only were Keds a leading athletic brand, it became the choice of leading style icons due to its stylish, classic and authentic characteristics.
