Guest Worker Program
The guest worker program has had a polarizing effect on many people in the United States; they either think it is a great idea or just amnesty for illegal immigrants. Basically it means that companies can hire people from other countries and bring them in to work for three years in the states. If the employee still does not have their green card they are then deported. For the agriculture industry and others that depend on foreign workers to run their businesses, this seems to be a great idea. Others look at is as encouraging undocumented immigrants to enter the country. Another hiccup with this plan is that the US promises to give citizenship to anyone born in the country. So therefore, all that a couple would need to do is give birth to a baby in the US and the government says they will take care of them and keep them in the country.
